Me Too Monologues - Faculty Advisor, Dramaturg

An annual performance of true stories submitted anonymously by members of the Duke communit, performed by students. Previously an initiative of Duke’s Center for Race Relations, now an official Student Organization, I have been the organization’s advisor and dramaturg for this project since 2011.

Each year, the producing and creative team solicits anonymous monologues from any Duke student (undergraduates and graduates), staff or faculty member about their experiences at Duke. The stories focus specifically on race, class, gender and sexuality but have included self-examinations about love and dating, workplace harassment, college admission, physical disability, mental illness, and death & dying. I work with the creative team to shape the arc of the show which averages 15-20 monologues performed by students across all majors for three nights of performances, which in 2013 played to audiences totaling 1000+.

Me Too Monologues is a theatrical production written, performed, and produced by Duke students. Actors did NOT write the pieces they perform. Come listen to this year's stories. Know each other deeper, and in doing so, meet Duke. February 4th, 5th, 12th, 13th at 7:30PM, 14th at 3:00PM. Nelson Music Room, East Duke Building.
